Join SSALAThank you for your interest in joining the Louisiana Self Storage Association. The Louisiana Self Storage Association was formed in 2007 to respond to the needs of self storage owners and operators throughout the state. Our mission is to strengthen the self-storage industry in Louisiana, promoting professional standards and quality and presenting a unified voice on issues affecting the industry in the state and in its communities. The following is a list of benefits available with SSALA membership.

The membership includes access to the Standardized Lease Agreement at no additional charge. Note: All membership renewals after Jan 1, 2026 will renew at the rate of $250. Vendor Membership$250.00 (Annual) Vendor Memberships may be purchased by organizations that serve storage businesses. Membership access for up to 3 company reps are included in the fee. |
If you would prefer, you may download the SSALA Membership Application and mail it in with a check.
The national Self Storage Association (SSA) recently notified SSALA that it will be discontinuing their State Affiliation Program effective January 1, 2026. This program historically allowed SSALA select SSA benefits. In a letter to SSALA, the SSA explained that the change is related to their intent to focus more on national, chartered, and SSA-managed state memberships.
Beginning next year, SSALA members who are not SSA members will no longer receive:
· Discounted pricing for SSA events
· The SSA monthly magazine- The Globe
· Discounts for the Self-Storage Legal Network (SSLN)
Importantly, SSALA will continue to collaborate with SSA on national and Louisiana-related legislative issues. We have a strong working relationship with SSA’s legal team and their lobbyist firm. This partnership is critical as SSALA continues to combat growing legal threats to the industry within Louisiana and nationally.
SSALA’s Ongoing Commitment
While this change signals a shift within SSA, SSALA remains fully committed to supporting our members. In coming months, look for updates on our expanded legislative advocacy, new professional development programs, increased networking opportunities, and our hallmark events – spring and fall luncheon and our long-running SSALA fall conference. We also encourage you to use the MSM and ISS calendars to stay current on all industry events.
I believe SSA changes in the way they do business will open opportunities for you and SSALA.
Thank you for your continued support as we work to protect, educate, and help grow your business.
Jim White,
2026 SSALA President
