    2024 - 2nd Quarter Facility Highlight


    Elmwood Self Storage & Wine Cellar of New Orleans wins 2004 Facility of the Year from Mini Storage Messenger


    That was the big news in December of 2004. Though Elmwood Self Storage & Wine Cellar had only been open since February of that year, they had already made quite an impression on our industry. 


    The beauty of this facility is found in the transformation from what was an old, dark 120,000 square foot building to a sprawling, state of the art self storage facility with over 144,000 net rentable square feet. Its most impressive feature is the wine cellar that safely holds 2,200 bottles of wine for business and private collections. After hurricane Katrina, the need for more specialized storage was realized when priceless art and sculptures stored at Tulane University were damaged. Elmwood Self Storage & Wine Cellar was closely examined by the experts at Lloyds of London and found to be an impressive storage facility even by their high standards. Since that time, Elmwood has been honored to store many priceless collectibles within their walls thanks to their dedication to maintaining high security measures. 

    Since the 2004 recognition as Facility of the Year, Elmwood has not only expanded their wine cellar, but they have also added many other features, including their Records Management and Valet Storage divisions. Boasting a high-tech security system with over 145 cameras, they continue to lead their community in providing safe and secure storage. This is evident in that 59% of their customers have been storing with them for over 3 years. The average length of stay for their tenants is 5.9 years and over 20% of their customers represent small businesses in New Orleans.

       

    Elmwood pays attention to every detail with amenities such as inside driveways to keep their customers out of the elements. But they also take extra care in giving back to the community they love so much. Over the years, their dedication to fundraising is evident. By hosting annual events such as "Around the World with Wine" and "Business Bingo" Elmwood has raised more than $100,000 for organizations such as the Children's Hospital and  Dawnsbusters Kiwanis Rewards for Reading Program and several others.

    SB101 passed the House yesterday evening with a favorable vote of 74 to 24!

    All the hard work... hours spent making phone calls, sending emails, visiting properties, updating talking points, putting together contact lists, creating e-blasts... it was all worth it!

    SB101 has passed and is on its way to the Governor's desk for signature.

    This new legislature will be effective on January 1, 2022.

    Make plans to attend the Fall Conference on November 9-10th to learn the details of the bill from Scott Zucker!
